Noack, Friedenau-Berlin, cf. statue of Roseninsel, Bad Kreuznach by Cauer, inscribed on plinth, signed and dated "Ludwig Cauer 1895", H. 67.5 cm, heavy quality >30kg; Provenance: Family estate of Dr. Karl Hessel, Bad Kreuznach (1844-1920), according to descendants, probably a gift from the artist to his friend, educator and poet Hessel, sincethen in the family's possession; Ludwig Cauer comes from the Bad Kreuznach sculptor family of the same name. Ludwig created numerous monumental sculptures in Berlin, including thenational monuments for Kaiser Wilhelm and Bismarck
