Arnold Busch, 1876 Grünenplan-1951 Cismar, Thecruise ship Columbus in an Asian port, in the foreground boys on the quay, oil/canvas/wood, right below sign., approx. 73x98cm, frame approx. 88x113cm, Busch studied at the academyDresden with Bantzer and Franck, undertook study trips to Italy, Russia, France, Ceylon and India, 1912 Prof. in Breslau, 1915 assigned as a war painter to the army high command, was represented at all major German art exhibitions in Munich from 1937 to 1944 (except 1941), the shown cruise ship Columbus,christened in 1922, was sunk in 1939 to avoid becoming British prisoners of war. The American cruiser Tuscaloosa rescued the crew and brought them to New York
