Albert Finck, 1895 Bretten Militaria - Still life in the context of WWII, with steel helmet, thorns, barbed wire, open book and a faded picture of the Mother of God, signed and dated Bretten 1945/46 at the bottom right, oil/canvas, unframed, 92x76 cm, restored, surface damage; Provenance: from the estate of the artist's family; As a disabled veteran of WWI, Finck completed training at the Karlsruhe and Berlin academies. He held a professorship at the State Technical Center in Karlsruhe. His works are influenced by the horrors of WWI and Christian ideas. His intensive involvement with stained glass resulted in numerous church windows in the Baden area
