Hans Heyerdahl, 1857 Smedjebacken-1913 Oslo, double portrait of Anna Margrethe Wriedt
(bornKjosterud, 1830-1912) and her granddaughter Margrethe Giese (born 1887), signed
lower right, oil/canvas, restoration report of 1996,63x79 cm, frame 77x94 cm; enclosed
insurance report from Elisabeth Oggel, Mannheim for 75,000 DM (March 2000); Anna
Margarethe Wriedtwas the wife of the brewery owner Johann Christian Wriedt in Drammen,
Norway. Wriedt was a patron of the painter Heyerdahl, who grew up in Drammen. Heyerdahl
studied at the academy Munich and with Bonnat in Paris. Wriedt financed the training
in Paris. Heyerdahl's influence is evident in Edvard Munch's early work. Heyerdahl
made several portraits of members of the Wriedt family; Outline of the family history
and the relationships between Heyerdahl and the Wriedtfamily described by the great-grandson
Johann Christian Heinrich Wriedt in a copy available (around 2001); Provenance: from
