Walter Spies, 1895 Moskau-1942, 2 watercolors,# "Ordo Miridae #" 1925 and # "parlodes
Lilobeluda? #" 1925, were created during the stay on Java/Bali, below, signed and
dated, water sign Concordia, paper browned and stained, each 40x27 cm; Spies grew
up as the son of a diplomat in Russia. From 1918 in Germany he maintained friendships
with Oskar Kokoschka and Otto Dix and worked at the theater and silent film. In the
1920s/30s, Spies stayed in Java and Bali in various ways and maintained a kind of
insular-cultural center for prominent European travelers
