Elvis Presley's (1935-1977) white karate GI, 1970/74, signed and authenticated
by Master Kang Rhee (1938-2019) and Linda Thompson; white karate suit consisting
of jacket, trousers and belt in a large display case, approx. 160x110 cm; Jacket
signed by Kang Rhee and Linda Thompson; attached emblems of Ed Parker's Kenpo
and TCB karate, 3 photos of Elvis with master Kang Rhee, with girlfriend Linda Thompson
and Elvis with certificate of 8th Dan of black belt in Tennessee in 1974; Enclosed
notarized certificate from Kang Rhee from 1983 as proof that Elvis wore the suit
during private lessons with Rhee; Certificate from the Elvis Presley Museum Las Vegas
signed by President Jimmy Velvet; Provenance: from a German private collection, acquired
around 2000 from the collection of the Elvis Presley Museum Las Vegas; the suit was
sold to the Elvis Presley Museum by Linda Thompson and Kang Rhee after Elvis'
death in 1977; Since his station in Germany in 1958, Elvis followed his passion for
karate. In the 1970s he trained under master Kang Rhee. In 1974, Elvis founded his
own "Tennessee Karate Institute" and achieved 8th Dan black belt. An exhibition
at Graceland in 2021 documented Elvis' lifelong passion for martial arts.
