paper, each hand-signed, in different formats, motifs influenced by the Bauhaus period
and Paul, abstract compositions predominantly with graphic references to representational
motifs, expressive, unframed, 23x32 - 61x70 cm , edges partially folded; Hartwig
studied at the Folkwangschule Essen with Max Pfeiffer- Watenphul, in 1927/30 he was
a student of Kandinsky, Klee, Albers and Stölzl at the Bauhaus Dessau, and from
1935 he studied under Paul Klee at the Düsseldorf Academy |
