Mixosaurus "mixed lizard", Timor, China, approx. 240 million years old,
a type of ichthyosaur and a transitional form between primitive ichthyosaurs with
an eel-like stretched body and the more modern forms, similar in shape to today's
dolphins; The name of the genus, found in 1980, also refers to this transitional
character, cleaned using the sandblasting technique so that the fossil appears three-dimensional
and all parts have been perfectly preserved; the bones are clearly different from
the matrix; Limbs and gastralia are complete, the size of the fossil is 46 cm, the
